MD50 Cree LED Flashlight

Grab one here on Amazon

I'm no flashlight expert like some who will quote stats about brightness, battery life, and tacti-coolness, but I have to say I was impressed with how bright this really was. You know right after turning it on that there's quite the powerful LED living in the end of it. As soon as I opened the case and turned it on I knew this light and I would get along well.

Build- My favorite part of the construction is the complete lack of plastic The closest you get is the soft rubber button cover who's neon green color begs me to press it any time I see the light lying around. Otherwise you have a nice solid aluminum frame and thick glass lens that will hold up to plenty of bumps.

What's included- I love that this flashlight comes in a case with fitting foam and a place for everything. It'll survive anything in that but I wonder how much I'll keep it in there as most of the space and items wont be needed often. Besides that you get the flashlight of course, a rechargeable lithium-ion battery(with spacer), a charger for the battery, and a clip to hold three AAA batteries. I think that last item is a valuable addition to everything. While I love rechargeable batteries you never know when you'll end up out and about with a dead one. You can get AAA's anywhere so as long as you keep that adapter around you're set.

Function- If I'm forced to come up with a complaint it would be that when focused to it's narrowest you can clearly see that it's just a magnification of the LED and even see some of the elements that make it up. I think it's neat though and if anyone really cares about the shape of your beam just shine this puppy in their face to quiet them down. They'll notice. When the beam is widened you get a gigantic 90 spread of light that I didn't even detect a decrease of intensity from. It's just that bright to begin with. The beam adjustment feels solid to slide back-and-forth so I think that will hold up just fine too.

My previous experience with these small flashlights has always been cheap ones so to find one that can stand up against my other full-size LEDs is welcome. I may just add this to my EDC as it does a wonderful job of fitting great construction and plenty of light in such a small package. I received this product free in exchange for nothing more than my honest opinion.
